Campers will spend half the day training with Nostalgia Dance Center and half the day developing gymnastics skills with the coaches at Flip Stars Academy. During the dance portion, students will explore a variety of styles, build technique, learn choreography, and grow in performance quality. During the gymnastics portion, they’ll work on tumbling, strength, flexibility, and proper skill progressions in a safe and encouraging environment. Our “Recital in a Week” Summer Camp is a dance-focused experience where dancers will train, rehearse, and produce a full recital, all in just five days. Throughout the week, dancers will take classes in a variety of styles including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, and tap - building technique, confidence, and performance skills along the way. Each day is thoughtfully structured to keep dancers moving, learning, and creating. Our older students will also get hands-on experience with the production side of a recital: helping develop the theme, assist with costuming, and contribute to props and staging. They’ll gain valuable insight into what goes into bringing a performance to life, both on stage and behind the scenes. The NDC Summer Intensive is open to experienced dancers ages 6+ looking for exceptional training in all genres of dance. The Full-Day Intensive is a prerequisite for dancers looking to join any of our Pre-Pro Company and will be used as an audition to place dancers in the appropriate classes, as well as to cast dances for the 2026-27 season. It is mandatory for all returning Pre-Pro and Junior Pre-Pro Company members and highly recommended for Teen and Intermediate performance company members. Participants will train in ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, musical theater, and tap, along with classes for strength and flexibility, acting for dancers, yoga, and safe dance practices. Our in-house physical therapist will also be on-hand for screenings and injury prevention training . Instructors will be a mix of NDC faculty as well as guest artists from across the country with extensive teaching backgrounds and real-life dance experience. Many of the instructors are working professional dancers and are subject to change based on their professional obligations.
