Our Story
Welcome to Nostalgia Dance Center
We’re so glad you’re here. Nostalgia Dance Center opened its doors in March 2021, at the tail end of the COVID-19 pandemic. While it was a challenging time to launch a business, it also felt like the perfect moment. Our community was navigating immense change, and we had the unique opportunity to build something fresh—without the need to restructure or adapt an existing studio to a new world. From day one, we embraced the “new norm” and built our foundation with intention, heart, and flexibility.
Our vision was simple: to create a welcoming, inspiring dance space for students of all levels—from beginners to advanced. We’re proud to offer clear, consistent communication, diverse opportunities for growth, and a team of passionate, professional instructors who bring a wealth of experience and a genuine love for teaching. As our studio continues to grow, we remain deeply committed to ongoing education and innovative program development.
Meet the Founders
Larra Pounds has been teaching and directing since earning her B.S. in Dance from Ball State University in 2010. Growing up dancing and competing in Marion, IN, she always dreamed of opening her own studio. That memorable season of her life continues to inspire her today and is the heart behind our name, Nostalgia.
Larra is a passionate and supportive teacher who holds her students to high standards, encouraging hard work, dedication, and personal growth. She believes in every dancer’s unique potential and makes it her mission to help them thrive, both as artists and as individuals. Larra lives in Fishers with her husband, Jess, and their daughter, Lyra. They enjoy traveling, golf, and horse racing.
Shaindel Kramer grew up dancing in South Florida and continued recreationally while attending Tulane University in New Orleans. After several years in the TV news industry, she took a leap of faith in 2010 to open her own photography studio—which has been thriving ever since.
Shaindel reconnected with the dance world when her daughter Vivian began dancing under Larra’s direction at age 8. From there, a partnership was born. With Shaindel’s entrepreneurial spirit and Larra’s dance expertise, the two made an ideal team—and together, they brought their shared vision to life. Shaindel lives in Fishers with her husband, Matt, and their three daughters—Lucy, Vivian, and June. Their family shares a love of food, travel, and music.
Our Commitment
At Nostalgia Dance Center, we’re passionate about building a community grounded in growth, inclusivity, creativity, and a healthy dance culture. We’d love for you to come dance with us and become a part of our story.
