Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the season?

Our season runs from August - June. When you register for a performance or technique class you are enrolled for the entire season.

What is the difference between performance classes, technique classes, and mini-sessions?
  • Performance classes perform in two recitals each season, one in December and one in June.

  • Technique classes do not perform. While they last the whole season, classes are focused on building and growing a technical foundation for dance.

  • Mini-sessions are 4-6 week sessions held throughout the year. It’s a great option for families who want to try dance without a long-term commitment. There are no performances for mini-sessions.

What does the annual registration fee cover?

Our annual registration fee covers administrative costs for the season, recital fees for both the winter and spring recitals, as well as the winter recital costume.

What if we need to unenroll from classes?

We understand that plans can change. To withdraw, please email us at least 30 days prior to your requested withdrawal date. A withdrawal fee equal to one month of tuition per class will apply.

Do you offer private lessons?

We do! Once you’ve created an account in our parent portal, you’ll be able to schedule private lessons.

If you’d like help finding the right instructor, please reach out, we’re happy to guide you.

Can my dancer change classes mid-season?

We prefer that dancers remain in their classes for the full season. Our curriculum builds week to week, and switching mid-season can disrupt that progression and make it difficult for dancers to feel confident and successful.

If something isn’t feeling like the right fit, please reach out and we’re happy to talk through the best option.

Is there a competitive team?

Yes! We offer competitive companies for a variety of ages and commitment levels. If your dancer is interested in this path, we recommend attending our call-out meeting in April or reaching out to schedule a time to learn more.

Is there a dress code?

Yes. Dancers should come to class in dancewear of their choice and the appropriate shoes for their class. Shoe requirements can be found in each class description in the parent portal.

Long hair must be pulled back and secured away from the face (ponytail, bun, or braid). Large jewelry is not permitted.

Why Nostalgia over other dance studios?

At Nostalgia, we believe dance should be about more than just steps. We focus on building confident, capable dancers in a positive, supportive environment where kids feel seen, challenged, and inspired. Our goal is for every dancer to not only grow in their training, but to truly love being here.
